Dr. Peng Fang, Chair of the Global Green Development Alliance (GLOGDA)
At open remark, Dr. Peng Fang, Chair of GLOGDA, stated that the United States has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 15% since the peak in 2007 and has joined a multi-country declaration, committing to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The federal government made its largest investment ever in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, and various states have also set goals to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030 or 2045. He also pointed out that the development of artificial intelligence will require a substantial amount of electricity to power it. ARM CEO Rene Haas estimated that by 2030, 20-25% of the entire U.S. electricity supply will be used for artificial intelligence. These additional power demands could alter the roadmap to carbon neutrality.
